Your Questions, Answered

  • Country line dancing is a choreographed form of dance where people perform in lines or rows, typically to country music. This dance style involves a series of steps that are repeated throughout the song. Participants do not need a partner, as the focus is on the group formation and the synchronised movements. It originated in the United States and is often associated with country music and western culture. It is a popular social activity. Country Line Dancing is a great way to have fun, exercise, and socialise with others who share a love for music and dancing.‍

  • When attending a country line dancing class, it's essential to wear comfortable and functional clothing that allows for free movement. Opt for fitted tops or breathable T-shirts paired with jeans or comfortable pants that have a bit of stretch. Sturdy footwear is crucial, so choose cowboy boots or dance shoes with a smooth sole for easier sliding and turning. Avoid overly loose clothing that may get in the way while dancing. Don’t forget to accessorize with a cowboy hat, if desired, to complement your outfit!

  • The most important thing is that you wear footwear that feels comfortable and supportive for dancing.

Cowboy boots are often our recommended choice, as they are designed to allow easier swivelling, turning, and movement on the dance floor. However, they are not essential, especially if you're new to line dancing.

If you don't have cowboy boots, trainers or other dance shoes are absolutely fine. We simply recommend avoiding footwear with very grippy soles, as these can make turns and certain movements more difficult.

Ultimately, wear what you feel most comfortable dancing in and you'll be ready to enjoy the class.

  • If you're completely new to line dancing, we recommend starting with one of our Beginner classes. These classes are taught at a slower pace and are designed to help you build confidence while learning the basic steps and terminology.

If a Beginner class doesn't fit your schedule, you are welcome to attend one of our higher-level classes. However, please be aware that these classes move at a faster pace and may involve more challenging dances and techniques.

If you're unsure which class is best for you, feel free to get in touch and we'll be happy to help you find the right fit.

  • If you have previous dance experience, whether in line dancing or another dance style, you may find our Intermediate classes more suitable. These classes are taught at a faster pace and include more advanced choreography, techniques, and line dancing terminology.

However, the most suitable class will depend on your individual experience and confidence level. If you're new to line dancing but have a strong dance background, you may be comfortable joining either our Improver class or our Intermediate class. If you're unsure, please get in touch and we'll be happy to recommend the best class for you.

  • Our classes are designed to cater for different levels of line dancing experience, helping everyone learn at a pace that suits them.

Beginner Classes are ideal for those who are completely new to line dancing or have very limited experience. These classes focus on learning the fundamental steps, techniques, and terminology in a supportive environment. Dances are taught at a slower pace and feature simpler movements to help build confidence and skills.

Beginner/High Beginner Classes are perfect for dancers who have mastered the basics and are ready to build on their existing skills. These classes introduce slightly more challenging choreography and combinations while still allowing plenty of time for learning and practice.

High Beginner/Improver Classes are suited to dancers who are comfortable with the fundamentals of line dancing and are looking for more variety and challenge. Dances may include additional step patterns, tags, restarts, and more detailed choreography, helping dancers further develop their technique and confidence.

Intermediate/Advanced Classes are designed for experienced dancers who are confident with line dancing terminology, techniques, and a range of dance styles. These classes feature more advanced choreography, complex routines, and are taught at a faster pace, providing an exciting challenge for those looking to progress their skills.

If you're unsure which level is right for you, please get in touch and we'll be happy to help you choose the most suitable class.
